Ashna + Ian celebrated their love with an absolutely stunning Sapphire Point wedding at Lake Dillon, Colorado. After their cozy, in-home engagement session, I was beyond pumped for their sweet mountain wedding!! These two are just the cutest and I knew their wedding would be beautiful. They’ve been dating for six years, so they’ve had lotssss of time to dream about this special day!
The Gorgeous Colorado Wedding Details
Since this was a multicultural Indian-American wedding, Ashna + Ian found ways to honor both their cultures while planning a day that was uniquely theirs. I absolutely adored capturing Ashna’s mehndi party beforehand, where she and other gorgeous women in the family received henna! Ashna’s henna decorated her arms, hands, feet, and ankles beautifully under her jewelry and traditional wedding lehenga.
The vibrant red of her outfit was jaw-dropping, and it really set the tone for the other details of their wedding day. The details were intricate and her jewelry was a STUNNING finishing touch.
I’m obsessed with the warm, bold shades of red and gold in this color palette!!
And I already knew Ashna looked amazing in red because of her engagement session outfit, but her beauty here blew me away!
After getting ready, Ashna did a little first look with her best friends before going to see Ian. Their reactions were priceless!
Ian rocked this super cool jacket with a unique jellyfish pattern on the inside. I love how his blue suit complemented the red in their color palette!
Their Sweet First Look
First looks are always one of the sweetest parts of the day, in my opinion! Wedding days, even when they’re microweddings like this, can still be so busy and chaotic. No matter the size of your wedding, this is still a super emotional day! A first look allows the two of you to soak in the day together and focus on each other. Plus it carves out some time for a little romance 😉
Ian read Ashna a letter before they did their first look and I swear my eyeballs literally turned into heart emojis, it was so cute! Ashna was giddy listening to him read the letter, and got even more emotional when they turned around to see each other!
Reading each other letters during a first look is such a sweet and personable way to spend time together on your wedding day. You can write letters the morning-of, or before the wedding day, and read them to each other during your first look.
Warning: if you do this, you’re 99% likely to look over at me and see tears streaming down my face while you read them. It happened with Ian + Ashna, and it’ll happen with you too. We can’t avoid it!
Here are more ideas on what to do during your first look!
- Give each other gifts – instead of opening gifts in separate rooms to avoid seeing each other, give + open your gifts together!
- Practice your first dance – if you’re feelin’ nervous about your first dance, practice it during your first look! Get those nerves down and focus on being present with each other.
- Do a toast – grab your fav drinks and do a toast/shot/drink a glass together!
Wonderin’ what the heck a first look is and whether or not it’s right for you + your boo? Here’s all my best first look tips, fun ideas, & more!!
